The Mob is Fickle, Brother, and You Can

Black Friday has met it's match
by Josh Stone | published on Nov 30, 2010

The end of the Thanksgiving holiday meant that it was time to pack turkey sandwiches and head back to work, but that didn’t stop many shoppers from curtailing their Internet purchases as Cyber Monday spending hit an all time high this year, according to data from comScore.

Cyber Monday reached $1.028 billion in online spending, up 16 percent from a year ago, making it the largest online spending day in history.

Half of these sales came from work computers, so hopefully your boss doesn’t mind that you purchased a $600 watch for only $70. You could always say you bought it for him or her, if the heat lamp and bamboo shoots come out.

Surprisingly, Thanksgiving Day saw the largest jump in eCommerce spending, rocketing up 28 percent to $407 million from last year’s $318 million. Is the increasingly popularity of smart phones the cause? It only takes one hand to throw a 20-yard touchdown to Uncle Gary in the annual family Thanksgiving day game, after all.

I’m waiting to see the deals that pop up for all of us last minute shoppers. Hopefully they don’t involve a Christmas Eve gladiator match for the last available pack of tube socks and ream of notebook paper.

ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED!?
